What to expect

An initial session will usually take approximately 50 minutes during which we carefully assess areas that you would like help with, what has been concerning you and your goals for treatment. This will help us create a plan for treatment that is suited to your needs and situation. As everyone that seeks therapy is different is important that we take the time to identify the most appropriate, evidence based, treatment. The more we can discover about you and your experiences, the more effectively we can do this.
Most people feel the benefits of treatment after a few sessions. But the overall number of sessions required will depend on the complexity of the issue, your goals, and your commitment to the work. On average people attend 8-12 sessions; simpler issues may require less and more complex issues, more. Ongoing sessions will usually take 50 minutes with ten minutes for note taking and planning.
To ensure you get the most out of your time with us, we regularly review your progress, checking in with your goals for treatment. Usually sessions are scheduled weekly or fortnightly and are gradually spaced out over time. It is also common to plan a follow up appointment three to six months after treatment to ensure gains are maintained.
